Page caches and CDNs

How UptimeGlass works with page caches, CDNs and Cloudflare, and what to do when a cached page hides an outage.

A page cache can keep serving an old copy of your home page while WordPress itself is broken. UptimeGlass checks two things, so it still notices.

The health check is not cached

The plugin's status check sends no-cache headers and is not cached by LiteSpeed Cache, WP Super Cache or Cloudflare APO. It asks WordPress directly about the database, WP-Cron and fatal errors, so a broken database shows up even when the cached home page looks fine.

If a CDN rule caches everything

Exclude /wp-json/uptimewpress/* from the "cache everything" rule. Otherwise the CDN may answer our check with an old response.

Response times

With a page cache, response times reflect the cache, not WordPress. That is what your visitors experience, so it is the right number to watch for slowness.
