WordPress uptime monitoring that sees inside your site
A WordPress site can answer 200 OK while the database is gone, a plugin update broke checkout or WP-Cron stopped sending e-mails. UptimeGlass checks from the outside and asks WordPress itself, so you hear about the real problem – and not about every routine update.
Free for up to 10 WordPress sites, also commercial ones. No card needed.
What a 200 OK hides on WordPress
Most uptime monitors only ask whether the server answered. These are the WordPress failures where that answer is wrong.
| When this happens | A status-code check sees | UptimeGlass reports |
|---|---|---|
| The database server stops | 200 OK – up | Down: "Error establishing a database connection", confirmed by a second check. |
| A plugin update breaks the site | 200 OK or 500 – no cause | Down after the update of WooCommerce 9.4.1 → 9.5.0, with the file the fatal error points to. |
| WordPress updates itself | 503 – down, alert sent | Maintenance, no alert. One alert if the update is still stuck after 15 minutes. |
| WP-Cron stops running | 200 OK – up | Alert: scheduled tasks have not run, so e-mails, backups and orders may be waiting. |
What we check on a WordPress site
- Database connection and PHP fatal errors, with the file and plugin they point to
- Plugin, theme and core updates: maintenance is not an outage, a stuck update is
- WP-Cron, so scheduled e-mails, backups and orders do not wait unnoticed
- WooCommerce checkout and other pages you choose, with keyword checks
- SSL certificate and domain expiry, weeks ahead
- Every failure checked again before anyone is woken up

Questions
Is the Free plan really free for commercial sites?
Yes. Free monitors up to 10 WordPress sites every 5 minutes, client and business sites included. There is no trial period and no card to enter.
How is this different from a ping or keyword monitor?
A ping only learns that the server answers. WordPress often answers "200 OK" with a database error or a critical error page. UptimeGlass reads the page like a visitor and asks the plugin inside WordPress about the database, WP-Cron and the last fatal error, so the alert says what broke.
Will I get alerts while WordPress updates itself?
No. WordPress maintenance mode is shown as maintenance, not downtime. If an update is still stuck after 15 minutes, you get one alert that says so.
How do you avoid false alarms?
A failed check is repeated 15 seconds later before anything is sent. Short maintenance, backups and our own plugin updates are recognised and do not count as downtime.
Does the plugin slow my site down?
No. The plugin adds no scripts or styles to your pages and does nothing on page loads. It only answers a small authenticated request from our checks.
Do I have to install the plugin?
On Free, yes: the plugin connects the site and is what lets us see inside WordPress. Solo and Team can also monitor any URL without the plugin.
Can my clients see the uptime of their site?
Yes. Every plan includes a public status page. Solo and Team can put it on your own domain and give a client a read-only viewer login that shows only the monitors you pick (Solo 3, Team 20 viewers). Team also sends a white-label PDF report to your clients each month.
